Scone Recipe Perfect For Afternoon Tea

There is nothing quite like making freshly homemade light and fluffy scones, for a gorgeous afternoon tea in the garden ,so here’s an easy scone recipe then serve with strawberry jam and fresh cream delicious. Enjoy!

Makes 12-15

Ingredients

350g self raising flour,plus extra for dusting

1/4 tsp salt

1 tsp baking powder

55g golden caster sugar

85g butter,cut into cubes

125ml milk

1 tsp vanilla extract

4 tbsp natural yogurt

Method

1.Preheat the oven 220C/200C Fan/Gas 7.Line a baking tray with baking parchment.

2.Mix the flour,salt,baking powder and sugar into a bowl and rub in the butter with fingers until it resembles breadcrumbs.

3.Mix the milk, yogurt and vanilla extract and stir into the mixture.work it all together until a soft dough is formed.

4.Turn onto a floured board and knead lightly to a smooth surface,then flatten out to an even thickness of 2 cm.

5.using a 5 cm diameter cutter press and cut out 12-15 scones and place on the baking tray.

6.Bake in the oven for 12-15 mins until risen and golden.Best eaten warm or on the day.

7.Serve with strawberry jam and fresh cream.
