A Treacle Toffee Treat For Bonfire Night

Remember,Remember the 5 th November ! Get ready and light the  bonfire, set off the fireworks and light up the sky, and make a tray of traditional treacle toffee for bonfire night.A perfect treat to enjoy and share around the bonfire.

Treacle Toffee Recipe


10-12 servings


500 grams dark brown sugar

75 grams butter

100 grams black treacle

100 grams golden syrup

5 fluid ounces water

1/4 tsp cream of tartar   

Place the sugar and water in a saucepan and gently dissolve.Then add all the ingredients and bring to the boil.Keep the mixture boiling for about 5 minutes,then test the mixture, by dropping a 1/2 teaspoon of the mixture in a glass of cold water,if the mixture keeps its shape and form,its ready.Pour the mixture carefully into a greased baking tray.Wait until the toffee has cooled,and then partially cut the toffee with a knife into even pieces ,when completely hard, break toffee along these lines and store in an airtight container.
