Fern is a muted, mid-tone sage–forest green — calm rather than moody, and one of the most requested hand-painted kitchen colours of the last few years. It brings the garden indoors without tipping into olive or emerald, and works as beautifully in a Georgian farmhouse as it does in a modern rear extension overlooking the Cheshire countryside.
In a Deelux kitchen, Fern is hand-painted in our own workshop in matt or eggshell, and it suits a traditional Shaker kitchen. Within our collection, Fern appears on ranges including Brackenbury Oak & Painted Collection, Deedale and Falconbrook In-Frame. Because every cabinet is built and finished at our own Winsford factory in Cheshire, we can paint Fern across the full collection — including on bespoke larder, pantry and island designs that are not on the standard range page.
Fern is a colour that rewards careful pairing. For worktops, we usually specify honed black granite, aged oak or a warm quartz such as Silestone Desert Silver; for handles, antique brass cup handles, aged bronze knobs or a brushed pewter T-bar; and underfoot, wide-plank oak, tumbled limestone or a honed slate all work well. Fern is also very commonly chosen as a two-tone — paired with a soft cream or Porcelain wall unit for a classic two-tone Shaker. Your designer will bring door, worktop and handle samples to your consultation so you can see the combinations in hand before committing.
Every Fern Deelux kitchen is bespoke — no flat-pack, no off-the-shelf units. Each cabinet is cut, drilled, edged, painted and assembled to your exact plans at our Winsford factory, with 18mm solid backs, screwed (not dowelled) construction, soft-close Blum hinges and our fifteen-year cabinet guarantee. Fern holds its tone well under both north- and south-facing light — worth seeing painted up on a full door sample before committing.
