Mussel is a soft, warm grey-beige — a classic painted-kitchen colour that reads as "gentle neutral" in the room. It is one of the easiest colours to live with long term and pairs with almost any worktop, floor or handle.
In a Deelux kitchen, Mussel is hand-painted in-house, and it suits a traditional Shaker kitchen. Within our collection, Mussel appears on ranges including Brackenbury Oak & Painted Collection, Falconbrook In-Frame and Deedale. Because every cabinet is built and finished at our own Winsford factory in Cheshire, we can paint Mussel across the full collection — including on bespoke larder, pantry and island designs that are not on the standard range page.
Mussel is a colour that rewards careful pairing. For worktops, we usually specify a warm white quartz, honed oak or a natural limestone; for handles, brushed brass, ceramic knobs or antique brass cup handles; and underfoot, wide-plank oak, tumbled limestone or a honed travertine all work well. Mussel is also very commonly chosen as a two-tone — pairs beautifully with Cream, Cashmere or a deeper Midnight Blue island. Your designer will bring door, worktop and handle samples to your consultation so you can see the combinations in hand before committing.
Every Mussel Deelux kitchen is bespoke — no flat-pack, no off-the-shelf units. Each cabinet is cut, drilled, edged, painted and assembled to your exact plans at our Winsford factory, with 18mm solid backs, screwed (not dowelled) construction, soft-close Blum hinges and our fifteen-year cabinet guarantee.
