Tourmalin is a muted plum-brown — one of the more unusual colours we hand-paint, with a depth and warmth that reads very differently from the usual grey/blue/green spectrum. It makes an exceptional feature colour on an island or a boot-room run.

In a Deelux kitchen, Tourmalin is hand-painted in our workshop, and it suits a traditional Shaker kitchen. Within our collection, Tourmalin appears on ranges including Brackenbury Oak & Painted Collection and Falconbrook In-Frame. Because every cabinet is built and finished at our own Winsford factory in Cheshire, we can paint Tourmalin across the full collection — including on bespoke larder, pantry and island designs that are not on the standard range page.

Tourmalin is a colour that rewards careful pairing. For worktops, we usually specify a honed marble, a warm oak island or a veined quartz; for handles, aged bronze, antique brass or forged iron; and underfoot, wide-plank oak or a warm limestone all work well. Tourmalin is also very commonly chosen as a two-tone — most often paired with a softer Cream, Cashmere or Mussel wall run. Your designer will bring door, worktop and handle samples to your consultation so you can see the combinations in hand before committing.

Every Tourmalin Deelux kitchen is bespoke — no flat-pack, no off-the-shelf units. Each cabinet is cut, drilled, edged, painted and assembled to your exact plans at our Winsford factory, with 18mm solid backs, screwed (not dowelled) construction, soft-close Blum hinges and our fifteen-year cabinet guarantee. Tourmalin is very much a "see a sample first" colour — it reads differently in every light, which is part of its charm.
